Stripper Leaves Her Daughter Home Alone And The Infant Dies In A House Fire
A portable heater may have been the cause of a fire in a Brooklyn apartment which firefighters extinguished around 7:30 on Tuesday, February 23rd. It was only after the fact that the body of a dead 2-year-old girl, Kaleenah Muldrow, was found hiding under a bed. Supposedly, the child’s mother, Leila Aquino is an exotic dancer who was working and partying at the time of Kaleenah’s death. Sources say the 20-year-old arrived on the scene two hours after the fire with a box that contained nearly $1,000 in singles, her tips from the evening. Leila said her daughter was supposed to be with a baby sitter who ironically, said she hadn’t worked for the dancer in nearly a month due to non-payment. Leila has since been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment. “She used to take care of her,” Kaleenah’s paternal great-grandmother, Jean Archibald, 73, said. “I’ve never heard of (Leila) doing anything like this. I guess people change.” NY Post
White College Students Who Referred To Their Roommate As A Slave Avoid Hate Crime Convictions
A six panel jury, which failed to include any African American representation, found three white coeds not guilty of hate crimes against their suitemate. In 2013, when Donald Williams Jr. was a freshman at San Jose State, he claims to have experienced various instances of racism at the hands of Joseph “Brett” Bomgardner, now 21, Logan Beaschler and Colin Warren, both 20. Williams testified that he was nicknamed “Three-fifths,” referring to the time in which slaves were calculated as less then a whole person. There were Confederate flags displayed in the common area and he was physically assaulted when he was held down and forced to wear a bike lock around his neck. Attorneys for the defendants said the abuse was nothing more than “pranks” rooted in “political satire”. The assailants were convicted of misdemeanor battery, with penalties ranging from community service and weekend work to up to a year in county jail. After being deadlocked, the jury however, concluded that the instances were not hate crimes. Huffington Post
New Study Says African American Men Are At A Higher Risk For This Disease
According to the Center For Disease Control, their new, comprehensive study has found that: 1 in 2 African American MSM [men who sleep with men] and 1 in 4 Hispanic MSM will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime, compared with 1 in 11 white MSM. For Black women and Hispanic men that number is around one in 48, compared to one in 227 for Hispanic women, one in 132 for white men, and one in 880 for white women. Social economics have been cited as a reason behind the disproportionate stats amongst the various races. The states with the highest HIV rates include: Washington, DC, Maryland, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana. While there’s no cure for HIV, a new medication, PrEP (Pre-exposure prophylaxis) has been found to reduce the chances of both women and men contracting the virus. “If we work to ensure that every American has access to the prevention tools we know work, we can avoid the outcomes projected in this study” said Dr. Eugene McCray, director of the CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention. Fugitive Wanted For Rape Gets Extradited
Nearly five months after Edwin “Patrick” Caizaguano allegedly raped his girlfriend’s sister, the predator has finally been apprehended. On October 19, 2015 police were informed that Caizaguano had raped a 10-year-old from Bushwick, NY. He was recently arrested in St. Paul, Minn., by the NYPD’s fugitive apprehension team. Upon being extradited to Brooklyn the 24-year-old told detectives that the child came on to him. Prosecutors said Caizaguano is being held without bail on rape and assault charges until his arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court. Police said his victim had to have surgery to recover from wounds she suffered in the attack and she is still in the midst of recovery. NY Daily News
