Jussie Smollett of Fox’s Empire popped up on The View earlier this week to surprise co-host Raven Symone for her birthday (who knew they were such good friends, even before her stint on Empire?). While there, he dished on the new episodes and what he thinks about Raven Symone’s unforgettable moments.

“We’ll see a continuation of the crazy,” he said of Empire’s return. “What I love is that coming back we’ll start to see what happens when families are split apart. We’re so broken…with Cookie being in jail for all those years and Lucious doing his thing, right now it’s about piecing the family together. But the parents gotta fix themselves.”

Raven also pointed out that they haven’t called her to return after she made a few appearances last season; which we loved! So hopefully she’ll be getting that phone call).

One of the best parts of the interview is when Jussie said to her what ALL of us have wanted to say for awhile.  He was talking about guest starring in a John Legend directed drama Underground with his younger sister, Jurnee Smollett-Bell when he poked fun at Raven.

“…It tells the story about the Underground Railroad and the people that fought back during slavery…As an African American…Because I am African American…”

Raven clapped back and told him to “Get out of here.”

He then revealed, “Every single day I’m FaceTiming this fool like ‘Why Raven? Why?'”

Even Raven was able to laugh at herself and say he also makes fun of her for saying she is from “Every continent in Africa.”

“I got a special mouth.”

See the fun interview below.

Empire is also up for a Golden Globe nomination for best TV drama, 12 NAACP Image Awards (Jussie has six of them) and even a Grammy!
