Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship with Will Smith has been a subject of speculation over the past couple years, with rumors of an open marriage and allegations that the high-profile couple was headed for divorce.

But Pinkett Smith, 41, tells Redbook in the magazine’s July issue that there’s only one reason she’d ever leave Will.

“What is the thing that Will could do to make me not love him? That would make me abandon him? I can’t think of one,” she says. “I’m sorry. Except if he did something bad to the kids – now we’ve got a problem.”

And as for those pesky tabloid rumors, which she previously referred to as “quite easy obstacles,” Pinkett Smith says ultimately they’re just not important.

“I have been affected by gossip and I know people who have been too. I’ve seen marriages destroyed by gossip. It is cruel. At the end of the day, all that matters is: Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror? That is it, baby.”

It’s not only false claims about their marriage that the Smith family has had to clarify lately. The rumor mill recently buzzed that Will and Jada’s 14-year-old son, Jaden Smith, was hoping to be emancipated from his folks — but Jaden himself put that story to rest.

“Here’s the thing I need to explain. I’m not going anywhere,” Jaden explained to Ellen DeGeneres. “The thing that people don’t get is that everything at his house is free. So I can get anything and everything that I want at his house, so I think Imma be there for 20, 30 more years. But he [Will Smith] says as soon as I have a movie that’s bigger than one of his movies, then I have to get my own house.”
