Now that the water crisis in Flint, Michigan is getting national attention, lots of Hoosiers have been asking how they can help after it was revealed that the water is contaminated with lead; a condition that is impacting thousands of children and families in the city.

Here are a few ways you can help:

  1. Link up with a group of people who are traveling from Indy to Flint to donate water. (IUPUI’s Black Student Union is collecting water from Monday, January 25- Friday, January 29 in Joseph T. Taylor Hall in Suite 100 in our advisor’s office. It will be taken to the to the Walker Theater as a designated drop off point to then be delivered directly to Flint.)
  2. Donate To Organizations like The Community Foundation of Greater Flint. You can give to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund, which is set up to help the water crisis.
  3. Even if you don’t want to (or can’t) give money, you can still help. Sign a petition here that urges Michigan Governor Snydor to stop making Flint residents pay for the water that has lead in it.
