Radio host, actor and comedian, Rickey Smiley is a man of many talents.
His new television sitcom, TV One’s The Rickey Smiley Show stars TJMS’ own J Anthony Brown, Ray J and Demetria McKinney (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne).
The show premiered Tuesday September 18 with 900,000 people tuning in, making TV One history.
Rickey Smiley happily tweeted: ‘
“[TV One] is extremely happy, as am I,” said the show’s producer, Roger Bob, who has also worked for Tyler Perry, and explained the risk of using a similar setup for Rickey Smiley.
“While the model was successful for us, it doesn’t always benefit the networks financially. It’s a tremendous gamble, an unnecessary gamble. You don’t know if the 90th episode will be as good as the second or third or 40th.”
The debut of R&B Divas also brought out high ratings for TV One.
