Delisa Rose’s luxury lingerie brand has been so welcomed in the fashion world, that it will be shown at Paris Fashion Week.
“The fashion industry has welcomed me and my luxury lingerie brand, Delisa Rose. Yet I must acknowledge that the shift to entrepreneurship has been, and continues to be, challenging,” she explained. “Transitioning from New York Fashion Week to Paris Fashion Week within a single year is truly remarkable. This opportunity allows me to showcase my latest collection and convey to my audience that I am not just an emerging designer; I have established my presence in the industry and earned my place. I aspire for my journey and experiences to motivate others, demonstrating that with perseverance, any obstacles can be overcome, and what you seek will ultimately come to fruition.”
Despite the battles she faces as an introverted entrepreneur, Wright says she is eager to continue to learn. “I am truly passionate about my work, but there are numerous days when uncertainty creeps in, and the emotional toll of navigating the highs and lows of being a Black entrepreneur can be significant. The reality of other Black-owned businesses facing challenges resonates deeply with me; it is not just a statistic but a lived experience. I genuinely wish there were greater support for Black-owned enterprises, as it would help bridge the gap between us and our peers”
2. Angel Love
Angel Love used her medical background as an RN to fuel her passion for fashion. The reality TV star (former Basketball Wives star), entrepreneur, and mother of two founded Life Angels in 2016, entering the healthcare uniform industry with her designer scrubs.
Angel sketched her designs to create more appealing uniforms for medical professionals who want to show their style while they work.
She was inspired by her grandmother, who she describes as an “extraordinary seamstress” from New Orleans.
“She helped me develop my very first set of uniforms, combining her incredible skill with my vision for stylish, comfortable scrubs. Tragically, shortly after my brother was murdered, my grandmother passed away from a heart attack just a couple of days later. These profound losses could have derailed my journey, but instead, they strengthened my resolve to honor her legacy through Life Angels.”
Love wore her scrubs with pumps paired with a Chanel purse and stethoscope to the Rap Snacks Boss Up Experience. She shared a clip on IG with the caption, “All I ever wanted to do was wear my scrubs @shoplifeangels with a pair of heels and look the flyest.”
3. Eboyné M. Jackson
Eboyné M. Jackson quit her 9-5 job to dive deep into her PR firm Divine Influence PR with no formal business training. But according to Eboyné, “God ordered her steps.
Similar to her company name, it was divine timing. “Once I took a step back and allowed God to be the CEO of my company, my business began to flourish. My PR firm, Divine Influence PR, has been in operation going on seven years now.” Finding success with her PR agency allowed her to venture into the beauty industry with her cosmetic brand Luxe on 7th, and hair company Eboyné Royale.
“I am a beauty and fashion lover, so the opportunity to live out my dream in all aspects of my businesses is a blessing.”
She continued, “As a black woman in beauty, I love being able to share the beautiful tapestries of our stories and the brilliance of all hues. 4. Jae’da Turner
Jae’da Turner saw a void in the industry so she created a marketplace for Black-owned businesses with her Black Owned Bos. BOB has made a multi-million dollar impact on businesses, generating $3M+ in incremental revenue to-date for businesses within its network. Black Owned Bos. is a mission-driven shop platform that curates an array of Black-owned businesses from which consumers can shop.
In 2020, Turner saw a flood of Black founders and business owners join her network to create a hub that is regarded as a Black business ecosystem and functions like a free public directory. Turner also launched her monthly subscription box with curated items from local Black-owned brands.
