Last night I was watching the Golden Globe Awards to see how the movie Precious would fare with The Hollywood Foreign Press. I mean, here is a movie that has won awards at film festivals since it’s release earlier this year. But when it comes to Hollywood, movies that seem to fare very well with movie goers, don’t always win the big awards.

I remember when I first saw it at the Heartland Film Festival here in Indianapolis, I was blown away! I immediatley posted my comments on this site, how great I thought the film was, and that if it wasn’t nominated for a Golden Globe or an Oscar, then they should shut Hollywood down. The Lee Daniels directed film “Precious: Based On The Novel By Sapphire” was nominated for three Golden Globe awards. The film itself was nominated for Best Picture, leading star Gabourey Sidibe, who plays the role of Precious, was nominated for best actress, and Monique was nominated for best supporting actress. One of the first things I said was Monique was incredible in this movie! Last night, The Hollywood Foreign Press agreed. Monique won best supporting actress. Check out her acceptance speech.
