Denzel Washington will be in Toronto for The 42nd Toronto Film Festival for the world premiere of Dan Gilroy’s legal thriller Roman J. Israel, Esq. The festival is running from Sept. 7-17. The thriller ROMAN J. ISRAEL ESQ. portrays a Los Angeles attorney, played by Washington, who is offered a job at a prestigious law firm after the death of his longtime partner. Sony is also looking to a Toronto launch ahead of a theatrical release for Roman J. Israel, Esq. from Nov. 3.

“We always hoped to premiere at Toronto and couldn’t be happier that TIFF audiences will be the first to see the film,” Gilroy said in a statement. With an awards season push in mind, Sony is also looking to a Toronto launch ahead of a theatrical release for Roman J. Israel, Esq. from Nov. 3.
