Word out of New Orleans, where the balls were bouncing for NBA All-Star Weekend, is that congratulations are in order for the Pacers’ Glenn Robinson, III.
He made his daddy proud by winning the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest. (His dad being retired NBA player and Purdue star Glenn Robinson, Jr.) The younger Robinson jumped over Pacers teammate Paul George, Indiana’s mascot “Boomer”, and a cheerleader for his last dunk, slamming the ball behind his head to clinch the coveted victory.
He’s the second Pacer to win the Slam Dunk Contest after Fred Jones did so, back in 2004. The NBA’s Western Conference went on to beat the Eastern Conference with a high scoring 192-182.
There seemed to be, by evidence of the high score, not a lot of defense played during Sunday night’s exhibition weekend game.
