Despite anti-Muslim comments Dr. Ben Carson made on Sunday’s episode of NBC’s Meet the Press, the GOP presidential candidate refuses to apologize.

As a result of the comments, many expressed their displeasure with Carson’s inflammatory statements. The Council on American Islamic Relations has raised its voice against the 2016 presidential hopeful and gone as far as to say Carson should with draw his candidacy for president.

Dawud Walid, Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, joined Roland Martin on NewsOne Now to discuss Carson’s remarks and his organization’s demand that the famed surgeon end his bid.

“We strongly believe that Mr. Carson is unfit to be president of these United States of America and as an American president, they’re supposed to represent the entire desires and be a representative of all the people, irrespective of race, ethnicity, national origin, creed, or gender,” Walid said.

The Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations also highlighted Carson’s recent comments about Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, saying, “I doubt very seriously that Dr. Carson would go out publicly and say he is against…that all White women in America are unfit to be president of the United States of America.”

“But he made a blanket statement about seven million American citizens based upon their religious beliefs and he is doing nothing more than pandering to a particular base within the GOP right now,” he said.

“I’m a strong believer that people who cheer on Dr. Carson’s comments are the same types of people who are in favor of Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant sentiment, talking about building a wall on the southern border — the same type of people who criticize the Black Lives Matter movement because a couple of police officers are unfortunately killed by civilians, and they want to blame the entire Black Lives Matter Movement.”
