It’s another victory for Serena Williams on her Wimbledon 2015 journey. Tennis powerhouse, Williams, entered center court for the ladies quarter-finals in England on a mission Tuesday. Her match was against former number one-ranked Bellarusian, Victoria Azarenka. Williams started the match slowly by getting one set down with a 3-6 loss and had to refocus on her history-making goals.
The current world-ranked number one champ dug her heels in and overpowered Azarenka with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Williams has the competition day off on this Hump Day, but will return on Thursday to face long-time nemesis, Russian, Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals. Williams is just two wins away from holding all four grand slam titles concurrently for a second time–a feat that Yahoo Sports refers to as “The Serena Slam”. The last time she achieved it was in the 2002-03 tennis season.
