As you may have already heard, Apple recently announced their intentions to launch a streaming service of their own.  Apple was going to give a free 3 month trial period to users, but what wasn’t made known was the fact that writers, producers, and artists would not get paid for streams during that period of time.

Taylor Swift took it upon herself to openly discuss the matter on her tumblr page, and stand up for the new artists who can’t afford to have their music streamed without getting paid for it.  At the end of the letter, Swift says, “But I say to Apple with all due respect, it’s not too late to change this policy and change the minds of those in the music industry who will be deeply and gravely affected by this. We don’t ask you for free iPhones. Please don’t ask us to provide you with our music for no compensation.”

Swift’s letter got the attention of Apple’s Senior VP, Eddy Cue, who took to twitter to make it known “Apple will always make sure that artists are paid.”  Swift later tweeted “I’m elated and relieved.  Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us.”
