Tom Brady

The “Deflategate” suspension appeal for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is set to begin Tuesday.  Brady is appealing the four-game ban he received for his role in deflating footballs below league standards in the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts.  NFL Network reports independent investigator Ted Wells will be present at the hearing to answer questions.  It was his lengthy report that determined it was more probable than not that Brady was at least generally aware of the activity surrounding the deflated footballs.  NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will personally hear the appeal and decide whether the suspension will stand or be reduced.  The hearing will continue on Thursday, if necessary.  The Patriots were also fined one-million-dollars and docked two future draft picks, including a first-rounder next year.  Team owner Robert Kraft said last month the Patriots will not appeal those penalties.
