Jaws40

Remember when it “wasn’t safe to go into the water?” Well, the shark is coming back.  “Jaws” is returning to theaters for a limited release on the 40th anniversary of the thriller that made director Steven Spielberg an A-list filmmaker, and made millions of Americans terrified of wading in the ocean.  Fathom Events will screen “Jaws” on Sunday, June 21st and Wednesday, June 24th in theaters around the country.

“Jaws” stars Richard Dreyfus, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw.  It cost nine-million dollars to make and grossed almost that much in its first weekend.  Since then, it has run up more than 460-million dollars in worldwide ticket sales.  Movie industry analysts credit “Jaws” with inventing the summer blockbuster.

The movie was released on June 1, 1975.
