After Indianapolis Deputy Mayor Olgen Williams made his decision to run for mayor of Indianapolis known in a tweet on the King Day holiday Monday, the Marion County Republican Party has let their pick be known. They are backing Indy Iraq War veteran and local business owner Chuck Brewer. Brewer owns Potbelly Sandwich shop and Soupremacy, two popular eateries on Monument Circle.

The field on the republican ticket is now becoming a bit fuller as more candidates will duke it out to challenge the front-running democrat, former U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett. Others in the Republican field include Jocelyn-Tandy Adande and Terry Michael.

Williams has served for seven years as Deputy Mayor of Indianapolis to current office holder, Mayor Greg Ballard.
