A blaze raged on Tuesday morning north of Indy in an under construction luxury apartment complex in Fishers. Firefighters from Hamilton County responded to fight the fire around 5 a.m. They were later joined by Carmel, Noblesville and Indianapolis fire fighters to battle the blaze in freezing weather that has engulfed a $35 million complex called The Flats at Fishers Marketplace. The apartment complex is in the 9500 block of Ambleside Drive near 131st Street and Ind. State Road 37. 131st Street between Cumberland Road and Ind. State Road 37 were closed off. Nearby schools were not impacted.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence is preparing to deliver his third State of the State speech tonight in the general assembly chamber. Observers are watching to see whether he’ll give any hints at a presidential run in 2016—a decision that he says he won’t make until after this legislative session ends. The speech is expected to last for 30 minutes and begins at 7 p.m.

A man shot while trying to rob a store on the city’s near north side is in critical condition. Metro police say the attempted robber was wearing a mask and had a gun around 8:45 p.m. Monday night when he walked into an urban clothing store called Hang Time on 38th Street, just east of Meridian Street. He was shot in the head by one of the shop clerks and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital. Police say the clerk had a valid concealed carry license and no charges are expected to be filed.

Police are also looking for an inmate who stole a Marion County sheriff’s vehicle and crashed it into a brick wall. A spokesman says Alexis Thomas was being picked up at Community Corrections on Monday when she climbed into the front seat and drove off. The patrol car was found abandoned several minutes later.

Police are investigating a rape reported at Indiana University. Officials say a student was attacked Sunday evening on the east side of campus by a man met through social media. He’s described as white, five-nine, 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Funeral services are taking place in Israel today for four Jewish people killed in an attack at a kosher supermarket in Paris. They were killed Friday when a gunman stormed the supermarket two days after the deadly attack on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

DON’T MISS STORY… While the world’s attention is in Paris and now in Israel for the memorial services, an Islamic extremist attack in Nigeria has been named     the ‘deadliest massacre’ in the history of Boko Haram, according to Amnesty International. Today is George Zimmerman’s deadline to surrender all of his firearms following his weekend arrest on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The man acquitted of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin was also ordered to stay out of Volusia County until this latest case against him is resolved. A week ago, Zimmerman’s girlfriend told police about a domestic violence incident and he was arrested on Friday. He is now free on bond and faces an arraignment next month.
