Dear Tom,
My mother raised 4 children all on her own. We are all grown up now – my older sister is 31 and she has 5 kids. My brother is 28 and he has 3 kids. I am 23 and my little sister is 21 and we don’t plan on having kids anytime soon.
My mom worked for CSDD. – Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled here in buffalo taking care of disabled people. She did everything she could to make our childhood the best it can be – anything from having bake sales to cleaned houses on the side.
Ten years ago, her father when he was in the hospital and she was spending a lot of time with him – ignoring her own health issues. Shortly after his death, my mom went to the doctor – she was diagnosed with Lupus & Rheumatoid arthritis and was placed on disability.
She lost her mother 6 months ago and it affected her deeply. She likes to relax spending her time with her galaxy tablet – reading the bible, reads books, watches her Netflix and listens to your show.
She still cleans houses when she can but most of her time goes taking care of her 8 grandbabies. One of them has ADHD – his name is Emilio – and last month, he decided to use her bed as a trampoline…and the trampoline broke.
I know it would make her happy to be able to sleep on a new mattress again.
