Lifetime is pinning down an air date for the biopic about the late singer Aaliyah. The network has announced that “Aaliyah: Princess of R&B” will premiere on Saturday, November 15th. Stepping into the role of the late singer is Nickelodeon’s “House of Anubis” star Alexandra Shipp. Zendaya Coleman was originally cast for the role, but she dropped out because of criticism from Aaliyah’s family. Joining Shipp on the cast is Chattrisse Dolabaille as rapper Missy Elliott and Izaak Smith as producer Timbaland.
Aaliyah was only 22-years-old when she died in a plane crash in 2001.
