Is your head spinning from all of the car recalls lately? Are you holding your breath that you don’t hear your make and model next? Well, you now have a new place to go online to find out if your vehicle is being recalled.  On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the agency’s new website. It’s called SaferCar.gov. There, you put in the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to find out if the manufacturer has a recall for that particular car, truck or motorcycle. Until today, searches by make, model, and year could turn up results that were bigger than the actual number of vehicles subject to a recall, giving a false picture of the particular recall. The agency is also requiring manufacturers to allow owners to learn about recalls by using the VIN to search the carmaker’s website. Not car-literate? You can find your car’s VIN on the driver’s side of the car or light truck’s dashboard.
