Indianapolis Public Schools isn’t facing a $30 million budget deficit after all. Superintendent Dr. Lewis Ferebee announced late Tuesday the school district has been releasing flawed figures for years and IPS actually ended 2013 with an $8.4 million surplus. Ferebee explained the discrepancy by saying potential programs were added to budget projections and never launched. However, the estimated costs for those programs were carried over in each budget cycle–a move which artificially increased the districts expenses.  Read more about this story HERE.
