It’s that time of year all ready; time to get out the mistletoes, christmas trees, music and more.  If you’re trying to save money this holiday season check out some of the free events listed below for you and your family this weekend.

  • Jingle Rails are back at the Eitlejorg Museum for the Great Western Adventure.  It’s a land full of locomotives in our wonderful city of Indianapolis.  It runs through Jan. 19th so check out their website for more details at http://www.eiteljorg.org/explore/exhibitions/jingle-rails-the-great-western-adventure

  • Take the little ones to Story Time at Barnes and Noble in Noblesville for “Elf on a Shelf” which is not only a party but an adoption event as well for the elves.  Kids can even dress up like elves if they choose :)  See http://www.bn.com/
  • It’s ice skating for all at the Indiana State Fairgrounds  inside the new Youth Arena next to the Coliseum.  Ice skating is open 7 days a week and hours vary.  See their website at http://www.indianastatefair.com/
  • Check out one of the best Dickens holiday classics, A Christmas Carol at the Indiana Repertory Theatre.  Kids can learn about loss and redemption to avoid getting coal in their stockings.  Times of the show vary by date; see http://www.irtlive.com/
  • Enjoy an evening of music and celebration to help out others with the Gaither Homecoming Christmas Spectacular at Bankers Life Fieldhouse starting at 6pm.  Proceeds go the Wheeler Mission and pricing varies, click on http://bit.ly/AIgaither
