Afeni Shakur has reached a settlement over the $2.2 million she claims her late son’s estate is owed in the bankruptcy of Marion “Suge” Knight.
A bankruptcy judge ruled that Tupac’s mother will receive a claim of $668,121.76 from Knight’s 2006 bankruptcy case. The claim is from an arbitration award Afeni won for Death Row’s breach of a 2003 settlement agreement related to the unauthorized distribution of her son’s songs.
Since Tupac’s passing, Afeni has kept a close eye on the use of his songs, likeness and the release of any new material.
