FX has ordered an untitled sitcom that would star Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence as Chicago lawyers.

The cable net ordered 10 episodes of the sitcom from Bob Boyett (Family Matters, Full House) and Robert Horn (Living Single, Designing Women). The comedy is about the two lawyers who come from “vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court on the worst day of their lives.  Brought together by fate and greed, they develop a partnership and friendship, forcing each other to find the balance between the ethical and the unscrupulous in both their professional and personal lives.”

The comedy comes from Lionsgate Television and Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury. If the series meets a certain ratings threshold over its first 10-episode run, the network will automatically order an additional 90 episodes.

FX made a similar deal when it ordered Anger Management.

Grammer’s last TV series was the shortlived drama Boss on Starz. CBS developed a comedy starring Lawrence for the 2012-13 season but it didn’t make it past the pilot stage.
