Maya Angelou has canceled a planned appearance tomorrow at Butler University due to illness, a Butler University spokesman said today.
Angelou, 85, was scheduled to speak as part of the Celebration of Diversity Distinguished Lecture Series.
“Angelou was hospitalized briefly this week for an undisclosed ailment,” Butler spokesman Marc Allan said in an email. “She has been discharged and is recovering at home in North Carolina, but her medical team mandated that she forego any traveling for the next 3-4 weeks.”
Anyone who obtained tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically receive a refund, Allan said.
