IPS officials say plans for a free preschool for 4-year-olds have been put on hold.

John Althardt with IPS says the school board plans on discussing the idea again next month. The board says they will reevaluate the plan after looking at costs.

Officials say the new school board is committed to the plan, but they believe it may be too large and ambitious at this time.

However, IPS did give the OK to begin enrollment at Tech High School from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

The proposed preschool would add more spots at existing IPS preschool classrooms around Indianapolis
