Riding high from the success of her independent film “Middle of Nowhere,” writer, director and founder of the African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM)Ava DuVernay announced the launch of her new multi-platinum distribution label, ARRAY.

ARRAY, which is dedicated to showcasing Black independent films, will release its first feature film “Better Mus’ Come” written and directed by newcomer Storm Saulter.

“AFFRM’s new label ARRAY is build to serve the tremendous burst of black cinematic talent across the globe, filmmakers who are embracing new technologies to tell their stories by any means necessary,” DuVernay said.

The film tells a story of two characters Ricky and Kamala when who fall in love during a dangerous political time in Jamaica when Rival gangs take to the streets in hopes to disrupt the upcoming elections, killing everyone and anyone in the process.

“Better Mus’ Come” won Best Feature Awards at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival as well as Best Director Actor Award at the Pan-African Film Festival.

DuVernay is no stranger to success. “Middle of Nowhere” racked up several awards last year, including the Best Director Prize at the  Sundance Film Festival and won The Gotham Award for Best Actress, which went to Lead actress Emayatzy Corinealdi.

With all this success, Ava DuVernay continues to be an inspiration to Black women worldwide.
