The official Indianapolis temperature was 69 at 3 p.m., tying the record high for the day, and forecasters said it is likely late afternoon sunshine will push the mercury to at least 70.
The old record was set in 1982.
“The consensus is that we will probably see 70 at some point,” said Marc Dahmer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service at Indianapolis.
