Laura Govan doesn’t exactly disagree with Shaunie O’Neal about “Basketball Wives: L.A.” needing a makeover, but she questioned why the franchise creator is throwing shade.

“I might say that I would agree with her. A makeover is needed, but I don’t know to what extent,” Laura told Sister 2 Sister in response to a recent Twitter post from the “BBW” executive producer.

Though she can see why Shaunie might support a makeover of the spin-off series, Laura questioned why Shaunie isn’t defending the show.

“If you gonna have your name stamped on something, you should definitely support it,” said Laura.

While Shaunie is credited with overseeing both the Miami and L.A. series, Laura said Shaunie really doesn’t have that much input when it comes to the West Coast version.

According to Laura, the spin-off was the brainchild of her and sister Gloria Govan. “Shaunie has nothing to do with ‘BBW: L.A.,’” she said.

Though she questioned why Shaunie suggested a makeover in the first place, Laura admitted that she would change a few things about the show.

“If it’s ‘Basketball Wives,’ then let’s hold this title. At least have some basketball affiliation,” she said. “At least keep it in the group, just have an affiliation. I’ve been with my guy 12 years, regardless of marriage or not. I’ve paid my dues. Give me some people who have paid their dues.”

Laura declined to specify exactly which of her co-stars haven’t paid her dues, but neither of the two newcomers has been in long relationships with basketball players.

Brooke Bailey was rumored to be in a relationship with the NBA’s Rashard Lewis, who reportedly had a girlfriend at the time; and Adiz Bambi was ushered onto the scene as a friend of returning cast member, Malaysia Pargo.

Draya Michele had admittedly dated multiple basketball players, but her relationship with singer Chris Brown is the most notable.

“At the end of the day, the title is called ‘Basketball Wives,’ at least play basketball. Let’s not just have the groupies. Get that for another show. That could be the jump-off show,” she said.
