Studies show that 21.3 percent of all adult Black Americans smoke. According to Legacy, a national health policy foundation, found that only 37 percent of all Blacks who smoke have quit. (This is the lowest number compared to all other ethnic groups). Research also shows that 75 percent of African Americans who smoke say they want to quit. While only 60 percent try, only 3 percent are successful.
