UPDATE 9:51pm: Whitney Houston was found dead inside a Beverly Hills hotel room following a 911 call. Beverly Hills Police Lieutenant Mark Rosen said there were “no obvious signs of criminal intent,” and the cause of death is being investigated.
Whitney Houston, who ruled the charts in the 80’s and 90’s, has passed away at 48. Houston’s publicist, Kristen Foster, has reported that the singer died this afternoon, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.
The death of Houston comes on the heels of music’s biggest night, the Grammys. Tonight she was to perform at Clive Davis’ annual Grammy Party. During tomorrow’s Grammy Awards Whitney’s contributions to the music world will be celebrated and remembered.
Her success came not only from music but film as well. She starred in “The Bodygard,” “Waiting to Exhale,” “Preachers Wife” and most recently she wrapped up her role in the remake of the movie, Sparkle.
