  1. Spend quality time with your partner alone. If you have children, arrange a babysitter or a member of your family to look after them for a couple of hours at least once or twice a week
  2. Don’t keep secrets from each other to increase your chances of rebuilding a trusting relationship again
  3. Listen and communicate openly and respectfully to nurture and develop a loving relationship
  4. Be honest to encourage a safe environment where it is safe to express your feelings and thoughts
  5. Be there for them especially in times of grief, sadness, fear and insecurity
  6. Be sincere with your praise, encouragement, support and love.
  7. Stay calm in potentially volatile situations and take time out during the healing process, particularly when your partner’s feelings for you will most likely ebb and flow
  8. Be patient with your partner because healing will take time
  9. Attend relationship therapy or counselling to confirm and affirm your committment to changing your behaviour
  10. Give your partner lots of space if they need time out
