If TikTok is your go-to for everything from dance trends to recipes and late-night scrolling marathons, it’s time to pay attention. Big changes are on the way—and soon.

Starting September 5, TikTok is set to roll out an entirely new version of its app in the US. Why? It’s all part of a deal to sell its American business to a new set of owners. A group of non-Chinese tech companies—including Oracle—is expected to take control of TikTok’s US operations. Of course, the sale still needs the green light from the Chinese government before it’s officially final.

But let’s get real about what this means for you. If you’re in the US, you’ll need to migrate to the new app. That’s right—your current TikTok might stop working if you don’t make the switch. The whole move is designed to address longstanding security concerns and keep the app alive in America, especially with a looming September 17 deadline to ban TikTok if the sale doesn’t go through.

Meanwhile, Apple and Google got some good news, too—the US Department of Justice has assured them they won’t be on the hook for any legal issues while hosting the app during the transition.

Bottom line? Don’t wait until September 4 to figure it out. If you love TikTok, start preparing now so you don’t lose your favorite creators, saved videos, or that carefully curated For You page.Read More Here
