President Donald Trump is once again at odds with Elon Musk—and this time, he’s going as far as floating the idea of deportation.

On Tuesday, Trump told reporters that his administration might consider deporting the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, following a series of critical posts Musk made about Trump’s latest spending bill. The billionaire called the legislation the “Porky Pig Bill,” slamming Republicans for raising the debt ceiling by $5 trillion and accusing them of reckless spending.
“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill… that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Trump, never one to back down from criticism, fired back on Truth Social, claiming Musk’s outrage was really about the bill’s removal of the electric vehicle (EV) mandate—a move that could affect Tesla’s bottom line. Trump added that Musk might “have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”
When asked if he was serious about deporting Musk, Trump responded, “We’ll have to take a look.”
Musk, who became a naturalized U.S. citizen after emigrating from South Africa, kept the feud going. He posted that he was tempted to “escalate this,” but held back—“for now.” The billionaire also suggested he would fund primary challengers to any Republican who voted for the bill, calling it his final mission if necessary.

The sparring marks the end of a brief truce between the two high-profile figures. Just last month, Musk publicly walked back some of his earlier criticism of Trump, even apologizing for letting things get too heated online after a reported phone call between the two. But the calm didn’t last long.
Musk had previously stated that without his support, Trump might not have won the 2024 election. He also claimed credit for helping Republicans secure seats in the House and Senate, having donated more than $270 million during the last election cycle.

Trump, however, isn’t impressed with Musk’s loyalty. In Florida on Tuesday, he jabbed again, saying if the Department of Government Oversight (DOGE) “looks at Musk, we’re going to save a fortune.” The veiled threat comes amid Musk’s ongoing efforts to reshape the GOP and his open frustration with Trump-era spending.
For now, the two men remain locked in a public feud, with big egos, political stakes, and billions of dollars hanging in the balance. Whether it ends in reconciliation or real consequences remains to be seen.
