Odd clause in Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s divorce settlement
Mariah Carey’s settlement with ex-husband Nick Cannon reveals financial details of their co-parenting arrangement for their twin children. The agreement includes a clause prohibiting the kids from referring to future spouses as ‘mum’ or ‘dad’. Despite their separation in 2014, Mariah and Nick remain amicable for the sake of their children, with Mariah covering Nick’s travel expenses for visitation. The former couple recently attended the BET Awards separately. The 55-year-old five-time Grammy winner arrived solo in a shimmering gold gown and took the stage to perform her latest single, Type Dangerous. She amazed her fans with her signature whistle notes and put on a dazzling display on stage.
Meanwhile, Cannon, 43, was also seen at the ceremony as part of the evening’s festivities. While the parents did not interact publicly, their presence at the same event sparked discussion among those on the sidelines. Nick has expressed support for Mariah during difficult times, emphasizing the importance of family unity.
Showing their close bond, Nick opened up to Page Six following the death of Mariah’s mum last year. He said: “She’s doing the best that she possibly can, considering the circumstances.” He also emphasised the importance of family support during such tough times: “But as a family, we just got to be there to support one another, show love.”
Nick went on to say that Mariah is enjoying an excellent period with the twins: “She’s really having a great time with the kids.”
