Ashanti Opens Up About Giving Birth, Motherhood and Nelly
Ashanti recently shared a heartwarming story about how her husband, Nelly, chose the name of their newborn son, Kareem Kenkaide Hayes. The proud parents, who welcomed their baby boy, affectionately nicknamed KK, into the world, wanted his name to carry a special meaning. Nelly suggested naming him Kenkaide after Ashanti’s father, showing his love and respect for Ashanti’s family. “My dad has only daughters, so Nelly thought it would be really meaningful to pass on his name,” Ashanti explained. “It was all his idea, and I loved it.”
Ashanti couldn’t stop smiling as she recalled the moment they met their son for the first time. She described it as a profound experience, filled with overwhelming emotion and joy. “Having all of us in the delivery room and seeing his face for the first time, I cried,” she said. “It was just so emotional and spiritual at the same time. I had a vision of this moment for so long, and it was such an electrifying feeling to see it come true.”
The singer expressed how this new chapter in their lives has brought them closer together as a family. She and Nelly are embracing their roles as parents with love and gratitude, taking each day as a new adventure with baby KK.
