Tonight is the 2010 NBA Draft, and the question that most Pacers Fans want to know is “who will the Pacers select as their 1st round number 10 pick?”  It’s a pretty sure bet that Kentucky’s, John Wall, will be the number one pick in this 2010 draft, but aside from this choice, it’s anyone’s guess. Will number two be Ohio State’s, Evan Turner, or Georgia Tech’s, Derrick Favors? And by the time the Indiana Pacers get to their tenth pick, which direction will they lean? Pacer President, Larry Bird, has said all along that the Pacers need a player in the point guard position; but the question is, will this critical spot be filled by a player from the draft, or will the pacers trade their pick for a veteran guard from another team?

There’s talk that the Pacers are looking at possible trades with The Thunder or The Timberwolves.  A name that keeps coming up in trade discussions is trading Troy Murphy to whatever team may be interested as long as it will benefit both teams; and what about Butler’s, Gordan Hayword?  Will the Pacers take him if he is available? Or will the Pacers call his name to trade him off to another team? Here’s one thing I know for sure. The Indiana Pacers cannot afford, at this point, to make any mistakes with this year’s draft. Whether it’s the sentimental pick of Gordon Hayword  (who in my opinion would be a great choice ) or it’s trading the 10th pick away to get a much needed guard, the Pacers have to make the right choice. I think the Pacers can take a page out of the Indianapolis Colts’ draft day playbook. Take the best player available, and if they’ve done their homework, that player will be an “impact player” for years to come.

Let me know what you think?
