Hip -Hop Artist Kendrick Lamar is being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his album “Damn.” This marks the first time in history where a hip-hop album has won the prestigious award. The Pulitzer Prize board described Lamar’s album as, “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” “Damn” is Lamar’s third album to sell over a million copies and was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards.
