An 18-year-old Georgia teen accepted a plea deal sentencing her to 40 years in prison after a 2014 Craigslist robbery resulted in a fatal shooting, according to WSB-TV.

Kayla Dixon and her then-boyfriend, Nathan Vivien, attempted to rob Danny Zeitz, a popular video game enthusiast, when the couple responded to Zeitz’s Craigslist PS4 ad.

After Zeitz resisted handing over the gaming console, Dixon pulled out a gun and fired a deadly shot that traveled through her boyfriend’s hand, striking Zeitz in the chest.

“I would trade anything, almost anything, to bring Daniel back. But I know I can’t,” Dixon said in a tearful statement during her plea deal. “I know he had plans. I wish I could tell him I’m so, so sorry that this happened, but I can’t.”

The New York Daily News reports Dixon and Vivien were captured at a local hospital where they claimed to be victims of a robbery. Police report that the couple watched YouTube videos on break-ins and deleted text messages they had sent to each other.

Dixon’s attorney explained to the judge that she was the victim of a troubled past, including rape and several relationships with men involved in criminal activity.

Zeitz was a popular, semi-professional gamer who had fans worldwide. He was the subject of a 2015 documentary titled Level Up, detailing the impact his murder had on family, friends, and fellow gamers.

Patty Zeitz, Danny’s mother, said she found it hard to forgive, but now accepts Dixon’s apology.

“Each day we wake, even a year and nine months, with the shocking realization that life as we knew it with our son, brother, and friend will no longer exist,” Patty said. “The loss of Danny has reached the depths of our hearts, souls and the hearts and souls of thousands around the world of his gifts of kindness and joy.”

Dixon stated that if asked, she would willingly testify against Vivien when his trial begins later this summer.
