@kwellscomm WTLC News

A decision is back from a Florida grand jury. It is indicting an ex-police officer who shot and killed a drummer after his car broke down alongside the interstate.

Former Palm Beach Gardens Officer Nouman Raja is charged with manslaughter and attempted murder in the October shooting death of Corey Jones.

Officer Raja was in plain clothes and driving an unmarked car when he pulled up to Jones’ broken down car late at night. Exactly what led to the shooting is unclear.

Relatives of the 31-year-old Jones said they were “relieved” by the indictment and said they will stay vigilant to demand greater accountability and transparency from law enforcement in the future.
