Couple Arrested For Fighting Over Crab Legs At A Buffet

While most buffets typically have an endless supply of food, Clifford Knight, 45, and Latoya Knight, 38, refused to let another patron at the Royal Buffet in Connecticut have the last crab leg. The Knight duo got into an argument with a 21-year-old man which eventually escalated to the unidentified victim being punched so hard in the face that he lost his tooth. The victim’s mother even jumped in and pepper sprayed the Knight’s. Police have determined she was acting in self defense and will not be charged. As for the Knight’s they’ve been arrested and charged with third degree assault, disorderly conduct and threatening. Clifford Knight was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and Lataya Knight was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond. They are both expected in court on April 14. NBC Connecticut

Brooklyn Teen Left Brain Dead After Fight

Ta’Jae Warner, 17, was a student at William E. Grady High School who loved to dance, play basketball and style herself in colorful outfits. Unfortunately, Ta’Jae’s family abruptly lost the vibrant teen after she was in a fight as she walked home from the store with her 11-year-old little brother who witnessed the incident. Sarina Agard-Forde, 18, is accused of hitting Ta’Jae in the head until she lost consciousness. The victim was pronounced brain dead by doctors at Bellvue Hospital on Sunday, April 3rd but she remained on life support until Monday morning so her family could say their final good-byes. “I’m hurt,” said Ta’Jae’s father, Arthur Warner, “My heart is feeling really heavy right now.” Agard-Forde has been charged with attempted murder and assault. Police are still looking for several other assailants that participated in the beating. Brooklyn News 12

New Laws Would Give Police The Authority To Monitor Social Media

If a juvenile is charged with a crime, Illinois lawmakers have proposed allowing police to ban their use of social media as well as search through their online history for any trace of criminal behavior. Lawmakers also want video voyeurs that film fights and post them on social media to receive a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. American Civil Liberties Union spokesman,Ed Yohnka believes the politicians are out of touch with technology and that the proposed bills are a violation of the First Amendment. “That lack of information leads to a fair amount of fear,” said Yohnka . “…Lawmakers are going to want to feel as though they’re responding to something that’s been brought to them as a problem. But there’s always the concern that the cure will be worse than the disease.” Chicago Tribune

Insulin Prices Skyrocket

In recent years the cost of insulin, which is used to control Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes has skyrocketed. A 2013 study noted that the patients who were previously spending $231 annually are now paying approximately $736 a year for insulin, (this also accounts for the fact that patients health issues have caused them to use higher dosages.) Unlike most medicine, generic versions of insulin aren’t readily available so three drug companies have been able to have a monopoly on the industry. Part of the reason behind the increased prices is the fact that the U.S. has one of the highest rates of obesity, especially within the past ten years. Medical research recommends cutting back on sugary foods. MedicalXpress/AJC
