Police and commuters were stalled on southbound I-65 before and during the rush hour dealing with the aftermath of Wednesday morning’s semi-truck fire which later turned deadly. Other drivers jumped in to pull the semi’s driver from the flames. He was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital where he later died. The lanes on southbound I-65 near Whiteland were closed for hours due to this blaze—the cause of which, is still unknown. Commuters were advised to use U.S. 31 if they were traveling south to avoid being caught in the traffic back up for hours.
