So, you want to make yours a great Labor Day holiday weekend for yourself and your family? Okay, check out some of the events discussed during my local news on this morning’s Tom Joyner Morning Show:

Anne & Emmett” a play by journalist, author, and playwright–Indy’s own–Janet Langhart Cohen. Cohen was born In Indy, raised in Lockefield Gardens, is a proud Crispus Attucks High School Alum, and is the wife of former U.S. Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen. She’s bringing this one-act play to the stage downtown at the Indiana Repertory Theater (IRT). It’s the tale of an imaginary conversation in a place called “Memory” between Anne Frank and Emmett Till, both young victims of racial intolerance and hatred. From the Jewish culture, Frank is the 13-year-old girl whose riveting diary provided a gripping perspective of the Holocaust. And from the African-American culture is Till, a wide-eyed 14-year old boy from Chicago whose brutal murder while visiting relatives in Mississippi during the summer of 1955, and the aftermath of his murder, sparked the American Civil Rights Movement. The IRT is located at 140 W Washington St, Indianapolis. It runs Friday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, September 5 at 2:00 & 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. Get general admission tickets HERE or at the box office.    See a clip of the performance below:
