A beauty of an American horse is attempting to defy the odds and make history Saturday during the Belmont Stakes. American Pharoah is favored to win and end a 37-year Triple Crown drought in the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park. Jockey Victor Espinoza has already ridden American Pharoah –a horse with a lot of personality– to victory at the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. It can become just the 12th Triple Crown winner and first since Affirmed in 1978 with a win Saturday. Observers say American Pharoah is “a once in a lifetime horse.” Post-time for the Belmont Stakes is 6:50 p.m. Eastern.
