Sam Smith will be undergoing surgery on his vocal cords next week.  The British pop star announced on Instagram Thursday that he needs to surgery to repair the hemorrhage on his vocal cords that forced him to cancel recent concerts in Australia and Asia.  Sam writes that doctors expect for him to be fully recovered from the operation in six to eight weeks, counting him out of previously scheduled U.S. festivals like Hangout and Rock In Rio.  The singer adds that he’s “really nervous” for the surgery, but that it’s “worth it” because he will be “able to sing like never before” after the procedure.
