166008308It’s Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil, the nation’s most well-known groundhog, has seen his shadow this morning, meaning there will be six more weeks of winter.  Across Indy–700 crashes and slide-offs, that’s what emergency personnel have been dealing with as this icy slushy snow storm has hit the metro area. The number of traffic incidents on Sunday alone made it to that 700 number as this storm moves through causing airport cancellations, power outages in cities like Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland on its way to the east coast to wreak more havoc in New York and Boston. But Indy Snow Force has been out all night salting and plowing for this Groundhog Day morning’s rush hour to get you through more safely. Officials say you should still allow plenty of time to get where ever you’re going today.

Herron High School and Indiana Christian Academy are on two-hour delays. Indianapolis Public Schools are in class and have been working to get the school buses out on their routes. Check out other closures and delays HERE.
