Kanye West and Usher will receive special honors at this weekend’s taping of the 2015 BET Honors. At Saturday’s ceremony, Kanye West will receive the Visionary Awards for setting trends across various mediums of art. Usher will be honored for his years of success in the music industry as he receives the Musical Arts Awards. “Cosby Show” actress Phylicia Rashad is set to pick up the Theatrical Arts Award. Among the other honorees will be the Director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African Art, Dr. Johnnetta Betsch Cole, as well as John W. Thompson, who’s the Chairman of Microsoft and CEO of Virtual Instruments. The 2015 BET Honors will be taped on Saturday at Washington D.C.’s Warner Theatre for air on BET February 23rd.
The night will also feature some top notch musical entertainment. Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, Patti LaBelle, Trey Songz, Jill Scott and Charlie Wilson are slated to perform.
