Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons is weighing in on the lack of diversity in Hollywood. At the National Association of Television Program Executives conference Wednesday, Rush called the lack of integration “deafening,” adding that “the segregation in Hollywood is incredible.” While a big part of the problem is studio executives who choose “more accessible” African-American talent, Simmons also faults African-Americans for “not forcing their way in doors.” Simmons is doing his part to present a more integrated face in Hollywood. According to “Variety,” he’s currently developing eleven film projects, which feature stories and themes that focus on cultural integration.
