456167058People are still talking because Bill Cosby has shared his expectations for the media – black media in particular – in covering the scandal around him. The embattled comedy legend offered rare remarks Friday in the midst of mounting allegations against him.  New York Post reporter Stacy Brown spoke on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” this morning about his report in the newspaper where he wrote that Cosby said he only expects “black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism” and to go into the story with a neutral mind. Brown reached Cosby at his home for this interview. He says in their telephone conversation, Cosby described his wife Camille as “love and strength of womanhood” when asked how she was holding up.

Meanwhile, regarding this interview, Bill Cosby’s attorney says the TV icon didn’t know he was speaking to a “New York Post” reporter, or that he was being recorded when he made the comments about the media that were published online over the weekend.  In a statement obtained by “USA Today” Monday, John P. Schmitt says the reporter, Stacy Brown, did not tell Cosby he was interviewing him for publication. Schmitt says “in a discussion of journalistic standards, Mr. Brown failed to adhere to the most basic standards of his profession.” He says Brown only identified himself as a freelance reporter for a number of African-American media outlets, which prompted Cosby’s remarks.
