Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl XLVII Media Availability

Ray Rice and his wife, Janay Rice spoke out yesterday after he was fired by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended by the NFL for knocking her unconscious in a casino elevator.

“We have a lot of people praying for us,” Rice, 27, told ESPN. “I have to be there for (Janay) and my family right now and work through this.”

Janay took to Instagram to blame the media for airing the shocking video footage that appears to have ended her husband’s pro-football career.

“To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday (sic) is a horrible thing,” she wrote. “To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific.”

Rice’s 26-year-old wife added, “THIS IS OUR LIFE!” “What don’t you all get,” she wrote. “If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels.”

“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend,” she wrote. “But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself.”

The Ravens announced that disgusted fans would be able to exchange their No. 27 Ray Rice jerseys at stadium stores.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell continued to insist that neither he nor his staff had seen the video before it was posted online Monday.

“We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including any video that may exist,” the NFL said in its most recent statement. “We spoke to members of the New Jersey State Police and reached out multiple times to the Atlantic City Police Department and the Atlantic County prosecutor’s office. That video was not made available to us and no one in our office saw it until yesterday.”

The commissioner’s claim has been greeted with widespread skepticism. Goodell first caught flak last month after he suspended Rice for just two games after a different video, filmed moments after Janay was knocked out, surfaced.
