Mick Jagger says he feels a sense of gratitude toward the late Godfather Of Soul. According to “Variety,” the Rolling Stones frontman shared his motivation to develop the James brown biopic at the New York City premiere of “Get On Up” which was screened at the historic Apollo Theatre recently.

Jagger explained that he appreciated how brown was “very generous” and kind” to him, adding that the R&B legend “wasn’t kind with everybody.” Mick also admitted that he “always studied” Brown’s moves, and he really admired the way James “always gave his best and always changed up his style.”

But that’s not the only James Brown project that Jagger has in the works. He’s also serving as a producer for the upcoming documentary “Mr. Dynamite: James Brown and the Power of Soul.”

“Get On Up” is now showing.
